Jakarta by Ojek

I'm in Jakarta for a few days. I got to spend a bit more time here than I did last December when I was here en route from Surabaya, and I think I've changed my opinion of it -- for the better. Riding an ojek (motorcycle taxi) helped. Speeding through Jakarta pillion on a motorbike can seem like a death wish. I've been on motorcycles in Dhaka, Chennai, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Darjeeling, Bangkok, Aranyaprathet, Nong Khai, Phnom Penh, and I don't remember being perturbed by pollution or traffic in any of the rest (I have a very high threshold). For those in a hurry, or those with a death wish, Jakarta-by-ojek still affords the best sightseeing -- especially since you'll be zipping through traffic rather than sitting in it. I wish I could stay longer but I need to head home, finish a book, pack up, and move.
